Born November 6, 1903 in Hungary. She was the oldest child of the ten children of John George Petiya and Anna Kolcum. She immigrated into the United States in 1914.

Description

Anna, or Tannie as she was called, was of average build and short of stature. She had brown hair, brown eyes and wore eyeglasses in her later years.

Early Years

  • Childhood - Anna had seven brothers, John R., Stephen, Joseph P., Frank J., Andrew Steve and Paul Edward, and two sisters, Helen Barbara and Pauline. When her mother passed away, Anna raised by her youngest sister Pauline.

Baptized into the Catholic faith.

Family Years

Married Charles Fafula. Later married Stephen Hovanic on January 13, 1951 and divorced in Feb 1961 in Polk, Florida. The couple had no children.

With the death of her mother, Anna raised her sister Pauline Joann Petiya and her cousin Stephen Petiya.

Death

Anna passed away on 4 May 4, 1995 at Warren General Hospital in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio.

She was buried in May of 1995 at Pineview Cemetery in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. The grave of Anna is located in Pineview Cemetery at 4049 Youngstown Rd SE in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. This cemetery is approximately 3.2 miles southeast of the city.
