Born September 23, 1919 in Dysart, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He was the seventh oldest child of John Politsky and Julia Klym.

Description

Walter, or Walt as he was known, was of average build (weighed 153 pounds in 1940) and stood about 5 foot 10 1/2 inches in height. He had brown hair and blue eyes.

Walt's formal education was completed the tenth grade.

Religion

Walt was baptized into the Catholic faith.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Military Service Years

FC3c Walter D. Politsky served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He began service on 10 Dec 1942  (Cleveland, OH) and was discharged in 1946.

He served as a Fire Controlman  on the USS Ingraham (DD-694)  and the USS Borie (DD-704) both Allen M. Sumner-class destroyers

Married Ila Elizabeth Russ on 7 February 7, 1948 by Rev Joseph R. Lucas at St. Mary's Church in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. The couple had two child, one boy - David W and one girl - Janice.

Walt passed away from congestive heart failure on Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Shepard of the Valley in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio.

He was buried on April 2, 2002 at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio. The grave of Walt is located in All Souls Cemetery on Hoagland-Blackstub Road, one mile north of SR 305 in Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio. This cemetery is approximately 7-8 miles north of Warren, Ohio.
