Education

Emma first went to the Aultman School ( Grade 1-8) and then went to Harding High School in Warren, Ohio and completed 10th grade. (During that time she lived with sister Anna Timko.) She was baptized into the Catholic faith on September 10, 1922. As she was a change-of-life baby, she was small and frail so they decided to baptize early. Her mother told her that when she was born, they put her in a shoebox next to the stove to keep her warm. (Her husband Emil used to joke with her and ask, "Are you sure they didn't put you IN the oven?")

She was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Parish in Indiana since 1947.
