Born on October 5, 1915 in. Greenwald, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was the seventh oldest child of Joseph Galetka and Agnes Theresa Monka.
Description
Emma who stood about 5 foot 11 inches tall was of average build. He weighed about 170 pounds in 1940. He had blue eyes and red hair.

Education
Emil completed the 8th grade at the Coral/ Graceton School in Graceton, PA. There was no opportunity for him to continue high school because his father died at a young age and he became responsible for supporting the family.
He later attended Shippensburg State College and obtained his formal police training and certification.[1]

He was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Parish in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
Military Service Years
Corporal Emil James Galetka served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He served as an MP and was stationed on Guam. He entered the service on 22 April 22, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, PA and was discharged from service on 11 May 1946 at Great Lakes, Illinois. He served as a corporal of the 3rd Marine Division of the US Marine Corps in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters.[2]

Emil was employed as a cleaning plant operator by R&P Coal Co., and a campus policeman at Indiana Univ. of Pennsylvania. (It was his extensive training as an MP that eventually lead to a police job with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus police force. As training for that position, he attended Shippensburg State College and obtained his formal police training and certification.)[3]

He enjoyed gardening, watching baseball and football, and being outdoors
Death
Emil died from cardiac arrest on September 5, 2002 at Allegheny General, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
He was buried on September 9, 2002 at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. His grave is located in St. Bernard Cemetery which is located on 200 Clairvaux Drive, about one and half miles northeast of Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
