Born September 23, 1919 in Dysart, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He was the seventh oldest child of John Politsky and Julia Klym.

Description

Walter, or Walt as he was known, was of average build (weighed 153 pounds in 1940) and stood about 5 foot 10 1/2 inches in height. He had brown hair and blue eyes.

Walt was baptized into the Catholic faith.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Military Service Years

FC3c Walter D. Politsky served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He began service on 10 Dec 1942  (Cleveland, OH) and was discharged in 1946.

He served as a Fire Controlman  on the USS Ingraham (DD-694)  and the USS Borie (DD-704) both Allen M. Sumner-class destroyers
