Born May 3, 1882 in Czechoslovakia. He was an immigrant and was the oldest child of the ten children of Andrew Petiya.

Description

John was of average build (weighing 150 pounds in 1942) and stature (6 foot). He had brown hair, brown eyes and wore a mustache in his later years.

Married Anna Kolcum in 1902. The couple had seven sons, John R. Jr., Stephen, Joseph Peter, Frank Joseph, Andrew Steve, Paul Edward and Frank Thomas and three girls, Anna, Helen Barbara and Pauline Joann.

Personal Life

Death

John passed away from iInfluenza which later resulted in pneumonia on December 28, 1945 at his home in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.

He is buried on December 31, 1945 at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Catholic Cemetery in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.
