James David Norris

Born on December 7, 1913 in McConnellstown, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Second oldest child of David James Norris and Bertha Belle States.
Description
James was of average build (weighed 149 pounds in 1940) and tall (5 foot 10 inch). He had brown hair, brown eyes and ruddy complexion. He began to lose his hair in later years.

Family Years
James married Anna Margaret Timko on August 8, 1936 in Dixonville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. The couple was originally married by the Justice of the Peace Clifford Oaks and later remarried, by the request of his father-in-law, by Father Kerbenous.
Over the next fourteen years, the young couple would have four children: two boys - David and James Curtis, and two girls - Patricia Jane and Cynthia Kay.

Residences
Lived in Dixonville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania in 1954.
Working Years
Worked as a coal miner in various mines throughout his career. He retired from R&P Coal Company in 1974 after 48 years.
During his early years as a miner, he broke is right leg in a mining accident when a runaway mining cart pinned him. His injury took several months to heal and when the cast was removed his right leg was 2 inches shorter than his left. His daughter Patricia remembers altering his pant's legs for him.
Personal Life
He loved fishing, hunting, drawing and photography.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1412
Death
James died at Indiana Hospital on January 4, 1988 in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
He was buried on January 6, 1988 at Ruffner Cemetery in Rayne Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
