Born February 20, 1919 in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. She was the seventh oldest child of the ten children of John George Petiya and his wife Anna Kolcum.
Description
Helen was of average build and stature (5 foot 7 inch). She had a light complexion along with red hair and green eyes.
Early Years
- Childhood - Helen had six brothers, Stephen, John R., Joseph Peter, Frank Joseph, Andrew Steve, Paul Edward and Thomas Frank, and two sisters, Anna, Helen Barbara and Pauline. The family moved to Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio in 1942.
