Born January 18, 1911 in Lloydsville, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was the fourth oldest child of the ten children of John George Petiya and his wife Anna Kolcum.

Description

Joseph was of average build (weighing 165 lbs in 1940) and stature (5 foot 7 1/2 inch). He had brown hair and brown eyes.

Early Years

  • Childhood - Joseph had six brothers, Stephen, John R., Frank J., Andrew Steve and Paul Edward, and three sisters, Anna, Helen Barbara and Pauline.

He never served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Family Years

Married Mary Magdalene Mink on January 21, 1928. The couple had two children, one son - Robert Joseph and one girl - Helen Magdalene.

He was employed by Thomas Steel Corporation for 42 years and retired in 1970.

Joseph passed away on May 25, 1982 at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.

He is buried on May 28, 1982 at St. Mary's Church Cemetery in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.
