Completed the eleventh grade at Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. He left school to join the U.S. Marine Corps. Received an honorary diploma from the City of Warren years later for his service to this nation.

George died from sepsis of a blocked bile duct on May 21, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
He was buried on May 23, 2015 at Meadow Brook Memorial Cemetery, in Champion Township, Trumbull County, Ohio.
