George Michael Berish

Born on July 21,1923 in Aultman, Center Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest child of four born to Michael George Berish and Anna Elizabeth Hudak.

Description

George was of average build and tall of stature (5 foot 11 inch). He was clean shaven except for a small mustache. George had dark brown hair and brown eyes. He wore glasses in his later years.

Early Years

Education

He completed high school.

Religion

He was baptized into the Catholic faith on July 29, 1923 at St. Anthony's Church in Aultman, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of St. Williams Church in Champion, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Military Service Years

George was denied enlistment in the military as he was legally blind in one eye.

Family Years

Married Pearl Lutz on September 25, 1948 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church by Rev. Joseph A. Krispinsky in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. The couple had four children: two boys - David  Michael and Gregory George, and two girls - Jennifer Ann and Jacqueline Marie.

The couple would eventually have four children:

  • David Michael Berish
  • Jennifer Ann Berish
  • Gregory George Berish
  • Jacqueline Marie Berish

Residences

He lived in Champion Township, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Working Years

Worked at Denman Tire Corporation.

Personal Life

He loved reading, gardening and watching Cleveland Indians Baseball.

Death

George died from complications from prostrate cancer on June 26, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.

He was buried on June 29,  2013 at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Trumbull County, OH. The cemetery is on Hoagland-Blackstub Road, one mile north of SR 305 in Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio. This cemetery is approximately 7-8 miles north of Warren, Ohio. George's and Pearl's graves can be found in the east portion of Section 2 (across the road from the chapel), Lot 1006, Graves 3 and 4.
