He was of average build and average stature (5 foot 8 inch). He had brown eyes and blonde hair. He wore mustache in his later years.

Completed the eleventh grade at Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. He left school to join the U.S. Marine Corps.

The couple had five children: one boy - Timothy Edward, and four girls - Andrea Sue, Mary Kathleen, Susan Jill and Christina Marie. Andrea Sue died with in a few months of her birth.

George died from sepsis of a blocked bile duct on May 21, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was buried on May 23, 2015 at Meadow Brook Memorial Cemetery, in Champion Township, Trumbull County, Ohio.
