Born on June 20,1939 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. He was the oldest child to Charles Olson Pike and Florence Watson MacKinnon.

Charles, or Bud as he was known, was average of build and tall stature (6 foot 2 inch). He had brown hair and blue eyes.
