Born on 9 September 9, 1916 in. Shanktown, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. [Shanktown was later renamed to Starford] He was the eleventh child of Michael Berish and Anna P. Mudry.

Description
Joseph, or Joe as he was known, was a young boy of average height and build. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes.
Early Years
- Childhood - Joe early life was being just another kid in a household with ten brothers and sisters at home. Playing in the nearby countryside or down at the creek, had to have been some of his favorite pass times.

Joe had to be either in the fifth or sixth grade at the time of his death.
Religion
Joe was baptized into the Catholic faith.
Residences
- Lived in a mining town in Center Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. [Note: Mining towns in that era had no official street names or house numbers.]
Personal Life
He loved to draw.
Death
Joe died from fractured skull from an accident by being either struck by a truck or falling from the back of that truck he hopped on the back to ride. He died on September 10, 1929 in Center Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was buried on September 13, 1929 at St. Bernards Cemetery in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
