Michael Berish

Michael Berish - (Birth name was Mihaly Biros.) Born on September 29, 1867 in Strocin, County Of Saris, Slovakia. He immigrated to the United States on 23 March 23, 1892 at the Port of New York, NY. Became a naturalized citizen on October 4, 1922 in Indiana County, PA.

Married Anna P. Mudry on January 11, 1892 in Dupline, County Of Presov, Hungary. The couple had sixteen children: eight boys - Michel George, John Paul, Andrew Michael, Peter John, Joseph, Paul, and two infant boys and eight girls - Anna Veronica, Mary Louise, Elizabeth Helen, Susan Elizabeth, Theresa E., Margaret Ann, Emma Eleanor and one infant girl. (Three of their children died at or shortly after birth.)

Worked as a farmer and then a policeman in Slovia. Later, in America, he worked as a coal miner for R & P Coal Company.

Michael died from a heart attack after suffering from chronic myocarditis on December 11, 1949 at the home of his son Paul in Aultman, Center Twp, Indiana County, PA. He was buried on December 14, 1949 at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Indiana, Indiana County, PA.
