Born February 20, 1935 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. She was one of five children born to William F. McLaughlin and Dorothy Eleanor Gillam.

Eleanor was of average build and height. She had brown hair and brown eyes. She wore corrective eye glasses in her later years.
