Born on November 2, 1948 in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. He was the oldest child of the five children born to Robert Joseph Petiya and Grace Myrtle Funk.

Description

David was of average build and stature. He had brown hair and brown eyes. He wore eyeglasses in his later years.

Education

He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School where he played football for the Panthers. David went on to graduate from The Ohio State University, with a master’s degree in computer science and programming.

He was baptized into the Catholic religion.

David married Nancy Dennis on June 29, 1985.

He lived in Lakewood, Jefferson County, Colorado.

Working Years

He was employed by Kaiser Permanente Health.

Personal Life

David was active in Boy Scouts when he was young and had attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He loved camping, hiking, backpacking and cross-country skiing. In his later years, he suffered with Parkinson’s Disease but was able to play softball with the disabled league. He was well-known for being an environmentalist. While working for Kaiser Permanente Health, he won an award for presenting his company with steps toward supporting a greener environment.

Death

David died from complications following a fall at home on September 28, 2021 at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Jefferson County, Colorado.
