Early Years
- Childhood - Her name was originally Adelia Bajczewska - it looks complicated, but it sounds like 'Bichefska'. Her brother's name was Stanislaus Bajczewski. He changed his name to Stanley Bichefsky, because that's how it sounds in English. Notice that even though they were brother & sister, their last names had different endings - that's a Polish custom that men have a masculine ending & women have a feminine ending... When she was young, the nuns used to ask her how she 'sneezed' her name. Like most young people, she didn't like being picked on. She later changed her name to Betty Brown, before she married Joseph.
