Born on May 8 1919 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was a child of Josef Olejarczyk and Anna Bukowa.

Description

Joseph was of average build and tall of stature (6 ft). He had hazel eyes and brown hair.

Education

Anthony completed his GED while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Civilian Conservation Corps

Anthony Olejarczyk enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) on Juyl 2,1935 at the age of 18 as a laborer. He went from Fort Knox, Kentucky to Camp Birch Creek in Dillon, Montana to build roads with a pick and shovel. He was discharged November 8,1935 and was transported back to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

Military Service Years

BMC Anthony Joseph Olejarczyk served in the U.S. Navy. Began serving on 2 Aug 1949 and was discharged on 16 Mar 1969. He served on the USS Tennessee and manned a deck gun at the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was injured during the Japanese attack. He was burned and seriously injured his back. He recovered and was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery. He went on to serve twenty years in the U.S. Navy and complete six world-tour cruises. Anthony was known as “Oley” while in the Navy.

He participated during three wars: World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.

Family Years

Married Margaret Anne Timko in or about 1946. The couple had three children: two boys - Stanley Paul and Steven Anthony, and one girl - Barbara Anne.

• Lived at 6622 Broton Avenue in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1950.

Working Years

He was a Chief Boatswain’s Mate in U.S. Navy for 20 years.

He was later employed as a plant security guard for American Steel & Wire  in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

He was then employed by the US Postal Service until he retired.

Business Ventures

• Owed and operated the Parma Janitorial Service which employed 70 employees.

Personal Life

Anthony was an avid reader. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Death

Anthony died from stomach cancer on September 18, 1990 in Parma, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

He was buried in September of 1990 at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
