Born on December 1, 1932 in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. He was the third oldest child to John R. Petiya and Mary Ulicny.

Stephen graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio

Religion

Stephen was a member of St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio where he was also a past member of their choir.

Military Service Years

Seaman Stephen Bernard Petiya served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during the Korean Conflict. Began serving on 26 Mar 1952 and was discharged on 26 Mar 1952. He served as a Dental Technician.

Family Years

He married Barbara Ann Timko on July 19, 1952 in Bainbridge, Maryland where Stephen was stationed while serving in the U.S. Naval Reserves. They divorced in 1964. Stephen later married Thelma Jean Jenkins on February 13, 1982. They had no children.

The Stephen and Barbara would only have one child - Sharon Marie.

He loved to play the harmonica and enjoyed woodworking.

Death

Stephen died at his home on March 20, 2016 at Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio.

He was buried at All Souls Cemetery in Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio. The grave of Stephen is located in All Souls Cemetery on Hoagland-Blackstub Road, one mile north of SR 305 in Cortland, Trumbull County, Ohio. This cemetery is approximately 7-8 miles north of Warren, Ohio.
