Born on November 3, 1923 in Creekside, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was one of five children of Robert Blair Spence and Mildred Blanche Carnahan.

Description

Leonard, who went by the nickname of "Red" who stood about 5 foot 8 inches tall was of average build.. He had red hair, grey eyes and was clean shaven. He wore glasses in his later years.

Paul died from skin cancer on July 22, 2007 at his home in Rural Valley, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.

He was buried on July 26, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery in White Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
