Born on May 3, 1917 in Rush County, Indiana. He was one of three children, and second son, of Donel Laughlin and Mabel Anne Tapscott. He was known to family and friends as Scott or Scotty.

Scott married Gertrude Maribee Ogg on January 20, 1940 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky. The couple had four children: one boy - David Scott, and three girls - Barbara Joyce, Linda Kay and Lavonne Rae.

Working Years
Scott delivered milk to homes for Moler's Belmont Dairy. Later, he worked as an inspector at Dayton Progress Corporation, a large tool and die manufacturer in West Carrollton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He retired from Dayton Progress.
Personal Life
Scott enjoyed spending time with his family and liked to travel with his wife Gertrude "Sis" Laughlin. Scott and Sis took several trips to Ireland. He also enjoyed fishing, particularly at Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee. He was a member of the Rock Moriah Lodge #740 F&AM and the Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.
Death
Scott died from pneumonia on June 9, 1988 in Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio.
