Born July 21, 1927 in New Kensington, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was only son of Martin Burin Sr and Mary Kay Kozik.
Description
George had an average build and stood about 5 foot 9 1/2 inch in height. He was clean shaven with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He had a tattoo on his upper right arm.
Early Years
George lived with his paternal grandparents in his childhood.
Education
He completed eleventh grade of high school.
Religion
George was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio where he was a past deacon, trustee and elder. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Group. He worked for the pantry and free lunch program at the church.
Military Service Years
F1C George Edward Burin, Sr served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Began serving on 8 Jun 1945 (Pittsburgh, PA) and was discharged on 19 Jul 1946 at (USN PSC at Bainbridge, MD). He served as a Fireman 1st Class (Engine/Mechanical Apprentice) on the Tombstone, an oiler barge, in the South Pacific.

Married Emma Marie Timko on January 21, 1950 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio. The couple had four children: two boys - George Edward Jr. and Thomas Michael, and two girls - Emily Jo and Janice Lynn.
