Born on December 14,1901 in Barnesboro, Cambria County, PA. He was the third oldest child to Michael Berish and Anna P. Mudry.

He was of average build and stature (5 foot 8 3/4 inch). He was clean shaven. He wore his brown hair in a crewcut.. He had brown eyes thet could be found behind eye glasses that he wore the major portion of his life..

Cpl John Paul Berishserved in the U.S. Army in Peacetime. Began serving on May 14, 1925 and was discharged on April 12, 1927.

John died from cardiac arrest resulting from a stroke on September 18, 1988 at Indiana Hospital in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He was buried on September 20, 1988 at Oakland Cemetery in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
