Military Service Years
S2c Herbert Leroy Parker, Jr - Served in the U.S. Navy. Began serving on 1 May 1944 and was discharged on (?). He served on the USS Somers (DD-281) and participated on the beach in the Normandy Invasion. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Badge, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.

Married Shirley Elaine Simpson on June 26, 1948 in Maine. The couple had no children. Shirley died on June 26, 1948 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California. Herbert later married Dorothy Alice Timko on April 23, 1999. The couple had no children.
